Strictly Come Dancing - Week Eight
This is the quarter final stages, and tonight all five couples will perform two dance, a Latin dance that they have not attempted before and a new dance called American Smooth which is an old Hollywood style ballroom routine with a lift. First up were the Latin routines and Colin and Erin performed a rumba to James Blunt's Beautiful which was described as 'smooth; and quite raunchy, which netted them 36 points. James and Camilla's samba looked Ok to me and featured some skirt ripping but the judges disliked it and the dancing so much they only received 20 points.
Patsy & Anton performed a jive to Two Hearts and her footwork remained awkward but the judges saw improvements in her and she got 27 points. Darren and Lilia's rumba was also well received to score them 30 points.. Zoe (who had the flu) and Ian danced the Cha Cha Cha to Ain't No Stopping Us Now, which was a bit error strewn, but they still got 32 points.
Colin and Erin did the first American Smooth, and it was very elegant and foxtrot based, they were very pleased to receive their first 10 and a score of 37. James and Camilla pulled off a dramatic (and quite hard) lift, though the judges did not think there was enough sway and it was not exciting, and scored them 28.
Patsy and Anton danced to It Had To Be You and she was still a bit clumsy, but they got 31 points and were told it was one of their best dances. Darren and Lilia danced to the only non-Big Band track, The Sweetest Feeling which was fun, upbeat routine and garnered them 32 points. Zoe and Ian were the only couple to do a waltz based American Smooth which was more graceful and scored them 36 points, meaning overall they were beaten by Colin and Erin, with James and Camilla at the bottom in the judges' score. However, in the second show it was Patsy and Zoe in the bottom two and Patsy left the show.
