The Sims 2: Nightlife

The latest expansion pack, for the latest version of the record-breaking Sims family of games where you get to manage life for a family or families. The last expansion pack, University, was excellent too and created a new town area. Nightlife also creates a Downtown area, although I am not sure it is entirely necessary, as you can build Community lots (shops, bars, parks etc) in the regular neighbourhood, now you have the opportunity to build and design restaurants, nightclubs and bowling alleys, with increased social and romantic interactions. The game now allows you to see who your Sim is attracted to, so if you are looking for a date, you now can have a head start. The Gypsy Fortune Teller for a few thousand Simoleons will find you a match to date, and you will score points. This is made easier my getting a panel revealing your date's Wants and Fears do they can easily be pleased. There are also Vampires in the game, that can be found downtown, but I haven't had much chance to get to grips with them yet.

There are also new things to buy for your Sim and new wall and floorcoverings. There is also the new aspiration of Pleasure. One of the better objects for the Community lots is the Photo Booth, not only can you Sim take his and his friend's photo, but they can WooHoo in there also. Sims have an inventory so they can carry around objects with them, such as photos and gifts. Also, finally, Sims have cars! There is a choice of five cars they can buy and park on their drive which they can use to get to work, shops or to take their friends Downtown or to other Community Lots. The Transportation menu has been speeded up allowing you to choose straight away where you want to go, rather then going Downtown and then choosing the lot. You can also go out as a 'Group' of six or eight Sims chosen by you or randomly generated by a Sim that has invited you. You can also see neighbouring lots from each Sims' house. It seems the manufacturers and designers have listened to what fans have said and want.

The game runs slow at times, especially on Community Lots or in households with large families. The Spring expansion pack is rumoured to be allowing your Sims to have their own businesses, which I am looking forward to already.
