Crash

A stellar cast and an unusual film dealing with the racial perceptions that different people have depending on their background. From white, (middle-class and working class), to Middle Eastern, Oriental and to black (wealthy and poor). The people in this film are all tenuously linked in the space of one day in a film which starts and ends with a car crash, and features a few car-jackings. There is the token schmaltzy bit (ignoring the fact the film is set around Christmas) with the little girl and her dad with an invisible cloak. In some cases the characters (who are all convincing) try and convince themselves they are not racist but all hold some prejudices and expectations about certain racial groups. Whilst not politically correct in parts, and seemingly a bit muddled at the beginning the film thoroughly redeems itself by the end.

8/10
