Live 8

Bob Geldof has announced the sequel to 1985's mega-concert Live Aid. Live 8 is less about fundraising (though I imagine it will play a key part) but more about putting pressure on the governments meeting for the G8 summer at the same time. The campaigners are hoping that these big nations will cancel the debt that has accrued by the third world countries which (thankfully) is something our government is quite supportive of. The BBC report is here. Full list of artists at the five venues (Philadelphia, London, Berlin, Paris and Rome) is here.

I loved Live Aid and am very excited by this.
